In Memory

Over the course of our years at Villa we made many friends--some with whom we've lost touch and others who have continued to touch our lives. Regardless, they were essential to our growing up. Sadly, we have lost several of those people.

Sister Maura and Mr. Krysiak were probably our two nuttiest teachers. They drove us crazy at times. But they taught us patience and perseverance. Sr. Joan Marie gave many of us our first taste of the Spanish language. She kept us smiling and made learning a new language fun, entertaining us with stories of her time in Chile. They all had our best interests at heart and they were truly concerned not only in our academic development, but also in our development as ladies prepared for the rigors of the life that faced us after Villa. When we lost them, the world lost three very fine educators. Our prayers are with them and their families.

Sadder still, is when a young life is taken. In January of 1994, Catherine Burbano and Emily McQuade died in a car accident. The sadness we felt was accompanied by the realization of our own mortality. Let us not forget them. We should honor their lives by remembering the way they touched our own lives, and also by assuring that we live out our dreams and goals in the same manner that they had hoped to live out theirs. It is certain that Cathy and Emily are looking over us and praying for us.

Please share your memories and stories of our friends and teachers who have passed away. Read what others remember.
